The way you used to be

Today...instead of complaining about tax...school....or my upcoming papers and finals, I thought that I would give you a list of questions to remember the way you used to be. (I got the questions from work, I'll post my answers later)...Keep in mind that these questions pertain to your life before the age of 18. Good luck and HAVE FUN!!!

1. What did you want to be when you grew up?
2. What was your favorite pastime?
3. What was your favorite book?
4. What was your first job (besides babysitting)?
5. As a child, what is your most memorable vacation?
6. What was your most favorite Christmas present?
7. At what age and at what event did you get your first kiss?
8. What was your favorite flower?
9. What is the most daring thing you did as a child?
10. How many trips to the ER did you have to make, and for what reason?

I am a lazy bum....and I like it that way

You know what I'm doing right now....I'm sitting on my couch...typing my tax paper...and also writing this entry. And your question is, "but Melinda, how exactly can you do this, due to the fact that you do not own a laptop???" Well, my inquisitive buddies, it is because I am resourcefully, creative, and SMART...(or lazy, you decide.)

I have lived in this house for over a year, and tonight lightening struck my brain and I discovered that I no longer have to sit at my horribly uncomfortable desk and that I can sit on my couch, type, and if I'm not working on a paper, watch TV!!! It ends up that because my desk is right next to my couch which has a table in front of it, is the perfect place for my monitor to go. So my pals, as I type with a pillow behind my head, I must say adieu! My tax paper is calling me, plus I'm beginning to fall asleep and I need to get this done...Night! :)

Confessions...

So I have a confession. I have a few posts that I have been constructing, but that I have not published because I'm a little bit of a chicken. Plus I'm not too big on criticism...and I don't like to make people mad at me...I just don't want to overload you with too much of me at one time! Plus, I haven't really had the time to write anything new! (God bless S-Corps) So here you go...I have been working on these two postings for about a week, adding things as they come to me...and I'll probably continue to add as more ideas come...so enjoy...but be nice as you berate me!! (Please) And if you think of any more...please add :)

What's the matter with me??

-I am a Christian...more specifically...a Lutheran!

-I love Baseball.

-I like the history channel.

-I cry every time I watch "All Dogs Go to Heaven."

-I am anal compulsive.

-I have an overactive imagination.

-I am easily amused.

-I love to plan.

-I want 2 or 3 kids...maybe a set of twins (it runs in my family).

-I want to be a CPA.

-I want to have the option to not work full time while we raise our family.

-I want to work out of our home.

-I love to smile and laugh so hard that it hurts.

-I love flowers...not to big on chocolates... :)

-I like to watch TV and movies...but I love to read books.

-I love Star Wars, hate Star Trek.

-I have a short attention span.

-I'm a little perverted...:)

-I love to swim!!!

-I like technical gadgets...I only wish that I could afford them.

-I love cartoons!!!

-I don't like to hunt....and not a big fan of guns all that much.

-I love to eat almost anything....unless it is seafood.. :(

-I am opinionated.

-My Mother loves me the most!!!(Just don't tell my sister or my brother!!)

-I am a little bit competitive.

-I can't spell all that well.

-I make the best milk shakes...bring some ice cream...and I'll make you one!!! :)

-I procrastinate.

-I have a big mouth, but I'm getting better at the whole secret thing.

-I have low self esteem...but what ROBIE doesn't??

-I love to play softball, but when I was younger I threw side-armed...so now...it takes me a while to be "warmed-up".

-Garth Brooks song, "To Make You Feel My Love" makes me teary eyed.

-I love animals, dogs mostly. I want a mini-english bulldog, a mastiff, and a beagle, and maybe a cat.

-I know enough about computers to get by, but not enough to be completely confident.

-I am creative when I want to be and not when it is forced upon me.

-I hate bugs...or any sort of creature that lives outside and wants to live in my little little house.

-I think that I may have Adult ADD :)

-I may hear voices in my head...but the most predominate is my Mom's voice...creepy huh?

What is with this place???

Okay...I'm not trying to slander this area of Texas (S0 Amanda Sue read this with your grain of salt)...but I just don't understand...

I don't understand how I live in a college town, yet there is not ONE single non-attached decent guy around...

I don't understand their news cast...It's a pity that the Guerro's cat got stuck up in the tree again...but I really don't want to know about it...how about something relevant to THE NEWS?!?

I don't understand the weather forecasts...."It's gonna be another beeeautiful day in East Texas tomorrow...if we look at our Doppler 2 Radar..."...you look outside to find green skies so you flip over to the weather channel to find out that your county is under a severe thunderstorm warning and a tornado watch.

I don't understand the nickname "Bubba"....do people just not realize that that name is the stereotypical name of a "hick" per say.

I don't understand using "Buck" as a name...now granted it's a middle name, but to be called by that as an adult and letting your future employer call you that.

I don't understand the harm in letting a few huge restaurant chains come into the area?? Have you ever heard about stimulating the economy?

I don't understand the harm of a few more paved roads.

I don't understand how it seems sooooo far to drive out to my sister's place, yet when I'm at home it is the same distance for me to drive out to my best friend's house or even to the mall and I have no problem with that.

I don’t understand why the dirt/clay matter that has stained my clothes...car....and me will never come out.

I don't understand why they don't use the censors on their street lights...why do I have to wait for a complete light rotation at 12:02 am so that I can go to bed after spending all night in the library.

I don't understand why my cell phone doesn't work in my house...I am really that far out in the middle of nowhere that they don't want to provide service??

I don't understand with this big merger/acquisition of AT&T to Cingular why the AT&T clients of Nacogdoches are not included in the plan.

I don't understand how the lack of a deadbolt on my front door with the replacement with this metal flap thingy should make me feel safer while I'm in my house....and what about when I'm not there and the flap thingy isn't down???

I don't understand why there are more liquor stores than there are decent restaurants.

I don't understand why there is a parade for every possible holiday that you could think of...and why do we shut down every possible road to my house??

I don't understand why when you are dialing locally, you are not required to use the area code...(not that I don't understand...it's just so odd!!!)

I don't understand the lack of pools?!?! I love to swim, and besides going to the one on campus or swimming in the "Lake", there is not really anything around here...plus what happened to neighborhood swim teams????

I don't understand why Agriculture has to turn in timesheets that smell like BO and are covered in dirt. Yes..I know that you have a job outside, but that is your fault, not mine. So please don't bring your mess to me!!!

I'm a girl and I'm not goint to get over it!

So today in tax I was attacked by caterpillars. I don't know if you know this or not, but I HATE BUGS. I hate the kind the crawl...the kind that flies...the kind that walks...and especially the kind that are attracted to me!!! Right, so the girl that sits behind me, Tina, had a caterpillar on her bag (something that I didn't know about until she screamed and subsequently flung it onto me!!). So then that caused me to scream and I began to shutter. My best friend Charlie flung the bug onto the floor, and to my dismay, I found another caterpillar at my feet, causing me to scream out again. At this, my wonderful Prof, Dr. Turner, looked at me and told me to get over it. (Which is just mean!!)

In all honesty, I tried, because we have a test on Thursday and I need to do well on, but for some reason I couldn't focus because instead of the stupid thing crawling away from me...it came back!!! Now I know what you are thinking...why is she afraid of a stupid bug?? I understand that I am some 200 billion times larger than it...and that I weigh some 100 billion times more than it...but still...for some reason..I am completely terrified of bugs!!

So back to the story...the class continues and there's about 25+ minutes left and I couldn't find the stupid thing on the floor. I answer a question correctly (for once), look over at Charlie and smiled to find a puzzled look upon his face. I followed his gaze back to my notebook to find, at my dismay, the damn bug had crawled back up the table and into my personal space. Charlie, my hero, in one swift motion (as I began to scream again), hit it off and onto the floor. And as it laid motionless on the floor one would think that the stupid thing would give up..if is was not already dead. But it didn't, it shook off the pain of falling a couple feet, for the second time, and came back to me. Thankfully we were leaving, but it made it all the way back under my chair!!!

So to all of you who scoff at the idea that me, a full grown adult, could be afraid of a little bug...I DON'T CARE!!! I'm a girl...and I can't just get over it, at least I didn't cry this time!

So to add to the husband attribute list...most be able to kill bugs, without giving me a hard time.

Pictures from Friday Night

So here are some of the pictures...and HA!! I'm not in a single one...well I am in one...but it's fuzzy and I didn't think that it was "Blog-worthy"...so now you have met the majority of my friends and been inside my house... what do ya think?

That's Kim and Lindsey...while they made the cookies...:) Which they did a magnificant job on...the cookies were great! Posted by Hello

Those were the final 3 JELLO SHOTS...Charlie, Lindsey, and James were the final participants...they tasted like some bad cough meds...oh...and that's a corner of my house with my two couches, and my quilt on the floor! Posted by Hello

Say HELLO!!! :) Can't really tell what is on...but more than likely it's South Park...because Jen (lady in pink on couch) and Charlie (not in pic) left before Ocean's 12...Trinity is on the floor there...and that's her husband James in the hat! Posted by Hello

Weekend of BLAH

So, I don't you if this holds true for you...but I did absolutely nothing...yet everything this weekend. On Friday night, I had a few friends over and along with trying a Jello Shot for the first time, I also learned a few new words...most of which I can't repeat!! (Thanks to the creators of South Park) Then Saturday I worked some on my homework, but mostly I worked on the indention in my couch... :)...Finally Sunday, after sleeping thru church, I finished one of my three papers, watched more T.V., and studied for Tax until I passed out. Exciting right?? Hope your weekend was better!! Bye!

Come on Over!!!

So the jig is up...I'm not really 23...I'm actually 8 years old.... in a couple hours I'm gonna have 6 of my coolest (and available) friends over for movie night....and some of them are gonna spend the night!!! We have Ocean's 12 and South Park, the movie....popcorn, ice cream, cookies, chips...anything that you can think of that has the most fat in it possibly...I've got! :)...... The major difference between my movie night/slumber party from an eight years old is that there will be margarita's and beer!! :) How I love to be a "grown-up"!!!

So if you're in town...stop by!!! It'll be fun!!

Oh...and like an eight-year-old..I'm gonna try and take some pictures!!! hehehe

Do you know what tomorrow is??? :)

IT'S THE 15th of April, you know, the 15th day of the fourth month following the close of your taxable year (as stated in the Code)!!! Now for most people, this is just another day in the month. They have already submitted their taxes, received their refund, and have subsequently spent their refund....yet in other cases, like my dear mother, some are still scrambling to get their paperwork in order, let alone look at a 1040 and decipher were the numbers go!! :) Yet in my case, I love the 15th. Granted I haven't graduated, am not a CPA, and the only tax return that I did this year was my own (despite my mother's pleading an hour ago to drive down to Houston to do her taxes tonight), but tomorrow for me, speaking as a future benefit, is great!!

Most people don't like to pay taxes, don't understand the concept behind taxes, and think that the government plain sucks. Well...not me! :) Too bad people, suck it up, you have the wherewithal to pay, and so just do it... :) But anyways...I digress. Tax season is a very stressful time and that additional stress is not something that I look forward to...but in my competitive nature, I guess that it's the satisfaction that there is something out there I can/could do and for the most part understand that someone else has no idea about that excites me. So that's an incite to my sick brain for now.

Oh, and if you picked up your W-2 from me today or heaven forbid tomorrow, file for an extension, because honey child, you're gonna be late!

Work sucks...

Let me be more specific...scanning and linking timesheets from previous pay periods really really sucks....there has to be a better way of doing this...I have over 2,000+ timesheets in this queue and I still have some 5 pay periods awaiting me to be scanned...woohoo...can you feel the excitement...I started on the letter G and now I'm on M's....sorry to complain..but this quite sucks...:) But then again it's better than fielding calls from concerned parents who child attends this college and the drama from that side of the office!! :) Okay..back to work for now, only 1 hour and 4 minutes to go, until corporate tax. And I just can't wait to get to tax!!

New Things to Look For...

Okay...so I'm a dork...this you already know, but I am reaffirming your conclusions...I am letting you know that because of this blog and a class I am taking, I am kind-of learning HTML. Something that I should have already know or at least been able to recognize...but now I'm getting into it...kind-of, well enough to put some new things on this ol' blog of mine...

For starters, I've added more links...and above that is a mood thingy...it's quite funny. But the thing that I am most proud of that noone in my little group of blogging buddies has is a COUNTER!!!! Granted this counter thingy at the bottom has now made me go online more to check my blog to see how many people have looked at it, but now I actually know how many people are looking....and that's a little scary...for example...I set it up last night...and by this morning there were already 4 hits...granted 3 were me because I hadn't figured out the blocking my FTP thing yet, but after I found that, I have been checking this thing like crazy. (because I'm paranoid)

It's like when you bake cookies and you put them in the oven and the timer reads 5 more minutes and you keep going back and opening the oven door to see if they are ready and their not and because you are opening the door, you let all the heat out, so then it takes even longer for the cookies to bake...know what I mean.. :)...

So anyways back to my freakdom...before writing this I checked out of curiosity...and I had some 26 hits...wow...so just because noone is commenting or emailing their comments to me...I at least know that someone has looked at my blog 22 times...wonder if they had a problem so they had to close and open their browser 22 times in order to read my rantings....hum...well, if so...hope your computer is working alright now...and if there were actually 22 more people looking at my blog...WELCOME...I don't bite all that hard!!! :)

Internal issues

So it's been two weeks since my last entry, and I'm sorry to my dedicated readers who long to hear my pearls of wisdom and my really really bored friends who scan blogs for conversational items!! :) But I've been having some me issues...and I guess you could say still having issues...but I need no sympathy....one day I shall come out of this fog...just call me a romantic at heart that can't separate extreme attention from feelings of interest...plus school plain sucks when you don't have a want to do anything. So to lighten the mood, I am relaying onto you a survey that was given to us during audit this afternoon. I will only give you 1/3 of the survey because it was a little extreme. So, here were go:
