Under Construction

Okay...so I'm compromising my ethical values and I'm doing a post at work...but to let you all know I didn't change the background today...I did it last night while I was playing around! So there. I like it because it ends up that I talk a lot, and this new template is wider...so yah!! Anyways...sorry for the incompleteness, I will try hard to get it up and running completely...but for now you're gonna have to live with it! So have a great day and good bye!!

The Library and the Oscars

Sounds almost like the title to some great book...okay a great booster-seat type book...but anyways...I digress. I went to the library today at 2 to get the work that I didn't do yesterday done today, with the expectation of spending all the time in the world on it...except when 7 o'clock rolled around I was tired of the library but not much further on my homework because I had a group meeting at 3 that lasted until 5:30...so I decided that I would go home, make something for dinner, turn the T.V. on to the Oscars and press mute and go on with the homework...yet it didn't work that way. And now it's 10 o'clock, Beyonce has song all but one song, I'm waiting for the Best Actor award, and I'm just as far on my homework as I was at 7 o'clock this evening. So instead of progressing in the never-ending homework trend, I decided to type...the trading securities can wait...the document awaiting the tax effect of like-kind exchanges for related parties can stay empty, and my tax book will stay closed...for now! So there! If only it was for forever!!! But then where would that lead me!!! Now thanks to the Oscars...I want to watch some movies...not do homework and the stress starts tomorrow and it will only get worse until next Thursday when I turn in my tax paper and my Spring Break begins!!!! This will be my first and last Spring Break without any work to do!!! Woohoo!!

So anyways...I will quit rambling and leave you with a couple Oscar questions:
1. When was Prince an Award Winner?? Was that from his one movie??
2. When they refer to any Spanish movie/song, why do they go straight to Antonio Banderas? (Or however you spell that man's name) Is he the only Hispanic person in the entire audience?
3. I haven't seen The Aviator, but is it really that good??
4. What was in Hilary's mouth? Was she still wearing her mouth piece from the movie?
5. I understand the need to keep things going, but seat side delivery of the little gold man? If those people weren't so imperative to the whole movie production, would they even have awards for them?
6. Why does Johnny Depp look so great in his movies when someone else dresses him, yet when he has his own closet he looks...well, not so pretty...well, he still looks great...but not to his full potential...that's all.
7. What is on the back of Jamie Foxx's head? Is it really a real tattoo?? Or a press on? And Oprah put your hand down...sorry.
8. And after I have twins...I want to look like Julia...not fair! :)

Okay...that's enough...for now! :) Have a great week...I will see you on the flip side!!!

Now it is gone and I'm bored because I have homework to do, yet not want to do it...but I did find this link...from someone else's blog...and it said that I'm going to die at 82...just thought that I would live longer than that...but I guess we shall see...take the quiz if you like...bye..off to do some homework!

I am going to die at 82. When are you? Click here to find out!

Muddin In A Honda...that's right...a Honda Accord

So...I had a fun night tonight...and I'm too tired and lazy to retype the story...so I'm going to cheat and paste the IM conversation that I had with a good friend of mine and let us tell you the story:

Me : hehe......so are you ready for my episode???
Me : it's interesting
Her : YES!!
Me : it'll make you laugh
Her : this may be the highlight of my night
Me : it will be...
Me : okay...so my sister asked me to come over to her house to watch her kiddo while she went to Bunko and while her husband was still at work...she was shooting for about 5:45-6ish...I I left here at 5:40ish...knowing full well that I wasn't going to get there any sooner...
Me : I went a different way because she said that it was faster...
Me : So...I'm making record time getting to her house that normally takes about 25+ minutes
Me : 8 minutes to 6 I come to the decision point in the trip...Do I a) keep going on 1878, and then take a right on 95 and then back track up to her house....or...b) Do I go down the County Road and make it there faster because it'll spit me out right at her drive way..
Me : Now I've been down the Count Road before..it's no big deal...just a dirt road with some pot holes
Me : so 8 til 6, I throw reason out the window and decide to go down the dirt road...because really...it couldn't be that bad...it didn't rain today...
Me : so... are you smiling yet?
Her: :-D
Me : k...good
Her: lol
Me : so I'm going down the County Road... no big deal..some puddles...some normal bumps...I'm driving along...dodododododo...right
Me : I am over half way down the road...3 minutes to 6...my sister always gives me a hard time for being late...
Me : I come upon a BIG puddle of mud...
Me : I do a hard brake before the puddle...I assess the possible points of entry and I decide that the best way in would be in the middle...
Me : so I gun it...
Me : half way through the puddle...the car starts to slide to the right...
Me : and then it stopped...
Me : you're laughing...
Me : so I lived outside of Tomball for some 14 years...I have heard stories of hicks/outdoors type people at my highschool going mudding...and how to get unstuck...so I know what to do..or so I thought..
Me : so...I make a hard left and put a little gas on it...
Me : my car went voom...my tires went...no where.
Her: HAHAHAHAHA
Me : so...I do a hard right, throw it in Reverse and tap the gas...and IT MOVED!!!
Me : but just into the mud more
Me : so I put the car in park open my door and look to the left...
Me : not bad...some mud...but any car could go through that...
Me : I close my door...let out a yell/scream of desperation...and climb to the left side of the car...open the door to find mud up to the door....
Me : so....I get out of the car to survey the damage at a different angle...
Me : oh...yeah...this County Road...it has chicken farms on it...so not only does it REEK!!!..but it also has these "nature" type sounds...
Me : not my favorite...
Her : HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Me : I walk around the car to see what I can do to find nothing...so I get back into the car to find my cell phone knowing full and well that I lost signal 2 miles into the trip out to my sisters...
Me : so i'm in Analog...I dial my sister's house phone because now it's 6
Me : but my phone cannot complete the call as dialed...there is not a server available
Me : so after a few choice words, I get back out of the car to find one bar with my antenna all the way out and my arm outstretched all the way...
Me : I dial my sister's number again...the call finally goes through....
Me : well...long enough for me to say...I'm STUCK IN THE MUD...HELP...and then I lost signal
Me : I moved around a little more and found 2 bars and called back...
Me : now remember...hand/arm outstretched...antenna fully extended...mind you...in the MUD
Her : oh yes i have that pictured....LOL
Me : I call back...long enough to say..." On your *-* county road."....lost call
Me : I throw the phone back into the car...scream...which in turn only makes the birds/"nature" sounds go louder...I swear they sounded like they were on a mic
Me : so I start walking around the car looking for something that I can place under my tire because I know that that's all I need...something for my tire to get a hold of... so I find a rotting piece of wood...I PICK IT UP...and put it under my tire...
Me : I walk back to the driver side to find that at this time my shoes are covered....COVERED in east TX crappy mud
Her : ewww
Me : so...I pop the trunk to see what I have back there to use...and I find...2 Walmart bags.!!!...and a pair of old Vet/scrub pants...from back in the day...
Me: so I pull the bags and pants out and walk back to my door...
Me: I put the first bag on my shoes...and go to sit...except, I lost my balance...and my foot goes back into the water/mud/nastiness
Her : ohhh
Me : I say something not nice...shake the foot off...sit down...and put the other bag on the foot and try to see if the rotting lumber would work...
Me : I hear wood breaking...yet no sudden movements...
Me : so I take the bags off the feet, get out the car and walk down a ways closer to my sister's house and recall her...
Me : the call goes through the first time...thankfully...she asked if I was okay...and that Jonathan was on his way out there...he had just gotten off of work...so that meant another 20+minutes...my brain goes...um no...
Me : so I ask her if she knew of any 2x4's lying around her house or the outside of her house because that's all I need...just something to put under my tire so that it will grab onto it...
Me : her response..."Um...I don't know where Jonathan keeps those things...and I really can't get away right now...I changing a dirty diaper...
Me : Then, she goes into this lecture of..."Why did you go that way anyway?? It was raining all week? What were you thinking..Blah blah blah blah...I yell back, arm and antenna outstretched..."Thanks for the help...I'll do it myself...being that this *-* phone doesn't work I can't really talk...bye."
Me : I walk back to the car and throw the phone back in the car...and I go on a search for more lumber
Me : so walk around to find some sticks...so I collect a few and then go tip-toeing back to my car and gingerly shove them under the tire
Me : I go back to the car...sit first...then put the bags back on my feet...restart the car and try to move...nothing...
Me : at this exact moment...I lay my head down on the steering wheel, when I see head lights....
Me : I reach over...slam on the emergency flashers...and pray they stop...
Me: I begin to roll down my window when they begin to speed up as they pass me...I quickly reroll up my window as they pass...after they get through the pit of despair...they slam on the brakes and one yells..."You stuck??"
Me: Later...I think of a Bill whatever his name is ..."Here's your sign" comment..but say nothing..I sheepishly answer...Yes....and the passenger gets out...I turn to get out of the car and he says...no...stay...I'm gonna rock it, you lightly tap the gas and I'll get you out
Me : I say...okay...and thank you...and he yells "Ready?!?"
Me : I do what he says...but not much happens...we stop and the driver gets out of the car with a bottle of Bean...I think...I need to bone up more on my hard liqueur bottles I guess...and he helps his buddy rock my car out of the mud
Me : So I thank them, apologize that they had to get dirty...and we both leave...
Me : So I drive out to my sisters and get out of the car to find my sister and the baby looking at me shaking her head and looking at the right side of the car..just about up to the window is covered with mud...it was at this point that I wish that I had my camera...but I didn't
Me : I begin to wash the car down when she says..."I called Mom you know."
Me : I scream..."WHAT?!?!..She's going to kill me..."
Me : You see...I'm 22...and I'm not allowed on that road for this very reason!!!
Me : Her explanation was...well, I couldn't get you back, so I thought that you might call Mom...
Me : Why on God's green earth would she think that I would call my mother who is 200+ miles away that can do nothing on a this great phone, I'll never know...
Me : so Jonathan comes a couple seconds later...by this time...I'm just glad to be out..so I'm laughing and smiling...
Me : because it would only happen to me...
Her : yes that is true
Her : your life is never dull, lol
Me : Thanks..so he cleaned off my car...I washed my pants...and it's all in the past...except for the mud on the inside of my wheel basin...or something that he missed that makes my car shake at 62 mps+...
Me : so that was my fun episode...
Me : sorry it took so long...but in order to appreciate the ending...you had to know the whole story
Her : wow that was way too funny....i can just picture you out in the boondocks sitting stuck in
Her : b/c you can't make this kind of stuff up
Me: I know...that's why I wished that I had my camera...
Her : oh that would have been great
Me : The kicker is that I even had a self discussion about going down the County Road or not...
Her : hehe thats the really funny part
Me : but for some reason...one day of sun shine would have dried 2 weeks of rain...
Me : so all was okay...
Her : specially east Texas clay
Her : yeah at least they were able to get you out and you car wasn't hurt
Me : I know...that's what I was so thankful about...and why I was able to laugh later, much later...
Her : well i think you've had your fun for the month w/ that one
Me : thanks....me too...the only problem is that is just the 10th...what do I do for the remaining 18 days??
Her : hide
Her : lol...or just don't go down any more roads you don't know!

So...that was my evening...sorry it's so long...but in order to know what's going on...you have to know the whole story...so...And that's the rest of the story...night...I'm going to go to sleep...

To Comment...or not to comment...that is the question

So right...I have this little blog...the purpose is to share my hair-brain ideas and thoughts with whom-ever is crazy enough to stop by and read, yet there is this option to comment which on some blogs are used and on other blogs...they are not. Now I'm not complaining that I don't have any outsider comments...I do, and they are great...yet...I just wonder if my excessive rambling is reaching mold-able brains...or if it's just me talking...because I have done and can still do both without a problem.. :) So does that mean that I have to increase the comments on others before comments occur on mine...it's almost the proverbial which came first...the chicken or the egg...but in my case it's your comment or mine! I think too much... :)
I thought of putting a counter out there to see how many people actually access this page...but then it hit me that every time I look at it...it would count me...so lost cause... I told you that I had issues...I do...I can't help it...a little weird....but that's me!!
Okay...so I have (Accounting) Research tonight...woohoo!! And we have our proposal due for our big 150 pt paper...and I only have 3 sentences...that may stay, it depends on the angle that I go with...my topic...Careers in Accounting. Interesting, I know! I had ideas this morning, but then I got to go to work for four hours and that tends to empty whatever contents that is left in my brain into a puddle of ooze on the floor...gross huh? So anyways, I need to finish that...so bye...comment if you like...or not... I will grow up one day...just not today! :)

Future Bibu Posted by Hello

Random Thoughts....

You read the title and think...Melinda...have random thoughts...never!?!?! But...Alas...I have plenty...so here we go...(plus a catch up from the past week)...
-Why do profs assign papers to be written and then on the day they are due, after you have turned them in go over their preferred format...it made me want to raise my hand and ask..."Um...Sammie...May I borrow that thing that I just handed in...I think that I may have sneezed on it and I want to get you a new copy..."
-Why is it when you change the sheets on the bed in order to remove the massive amounts of dog hair and before you are able to find the dog to tell her not to jump on the bed or to even look at the bed she is on the bed licking her feet, scratching her ears, and giving you this look of thanks...I thought that it was time to change the sheets too.
-Why do surveys make you feel guilty, vain, and alone? Last Tuesday I was approached as I was swiftly walking to my car(for a reenactment watch my mom walk, it's quite humorous with our short legs..anyways)...walking to the car, a tall, not bad looking...but older maybe mid to later 20's guy approached me and asked..."Would you like to take a survey?" At first response, can we say um no...but then he proceeded on saying that it was for a research paper...and being that I have written a couple in my lifetime I felt bad for the guy and agreed...only to my dismay. The survey was about what men and women look for in their dates and future significant other...okay, first and foremost I'm alone...because I'm focusing on my career/education...if I say it enough maybe one day I'll believe myself!!... So he rambled off a few questions like "list seven physical attributes", "does race matter?", "if you were approached by someone and they asked you on a date would you go with them or go on a group date?" (this question scared me...because my over processing brain went...is this really a survey or is it my sick sick friends getting back at me for something...), and then he asked my major...my IQ...and the kicker..."Have you even been on a spontaneous date?" Okay...I just told the man that I was an Accountant...spontaneous and accountant do not...I repeat DO NOT go together. I replied no...then he proceeded on questioning, "Really...why not....do you just not date a lot...or what?" Implying that I had some issue...my response..."Um..no...I just like to know everything that is going to happen...a PLAN. I like to plan...I live by a plan/time schedule." Is that bad? So..since last Tuesday I have tried to be more spontaneous...but I find that I in order to be spontaneous I have to plan it into my day...so then the plan to be spontaneous is ruined. So we're back to non-spontaneous Melinda...which I'm okay with...good old calculated, planned to a T, sometimes predictable Melinda. :)
-Why do I have such an expensive taste?? I have always wanted to get a Bulldog...or a Neapolitan Mastiff...but my new want is a mini bulldog...they are too cute!!! But they run a little under $2,000...some how for reasons unknown to me...I don't have that kind of money...and I won't for a long long long long time...but I still want one and I will have one...mark my words! Bibu, I will have you!! (my mini english bulldog puppy's name...can't you hear it!!)

And...last but not least...
-Do I need two Masters? A friend of mine's sister is doing this super intensive year long MBA study that covers 3 countries...New York, London, and Paris...it sounds great and I would love to do it...the program starts in the fall in New York and by the summer you are graduating in Paris...neat huh?? The draw back...for just the educational part...it would run me a little over $35,000...(see now the puppy idea seems cheap!!!) It would be an international business degree...but I don't know...it would be a great though...here's the link to the program...
http://www.cwpost.liu.edu/cwis/cwp/mba/portfolio_c.html ...what do you think?

Okay..so I think that I have blown your mind enough...so I will retire for tonight....oops...I forgot one thing...
-Why am I afraid of girlie girls? Today I agreed to babysit my boss two girls...their I think maybe 10 and 12...or 11 and 12...very close in age..so anyways...I said that I would watch them at my house on Saturday for 6 or 7 hours...I don't know if you have seen my house but it's about this big-----> <-------...and they do dance and girl stuff...granted I'm girly now..but at that age I was the biggest tom boy...and I have no idea what to do with them...so any ideas would be great...
Okay...so now I'm going to go...enjoy...sorry that I rambled too much...bye!!
