He's Leaving Home.
He’s packed and ready to roll. Or so he thinks. He has packed up his room, folded his clothes, and is off at a movie saying good-bye to his “friends”. He claims that he won’t miss a thing, but I can see it in his eyes. He’s ready for a change, but is ultimately afraid of it.
She spent all day shopping for him, getting a trash can, ramen noodles, toilet paper, and other things to begin his new life. She spent the rest of the day washing and folding clothing so that he would have something to wear. She claims that she’s okay and that nothing really will change, but I can see it in her eyes, she’s in denial.
He is all a glow. He’s asking “what can I do?” as he sits in his chair. He’s planning all the details, from the how to pack the car to the most effective way to travel one and a half hours away. He keeps asking his son what his wildcat is and how to buy tickets to the football games and when he gets his ring. He claims that is he so proud and excited, but I can see it in his eyes, he’s ready to relive his college experience.
He leaves tomorrow to go to college. So this is my wish for my little baby brother, that he takes his fear of change, his mother’s hope’s for his undecided future, and his father’s excitement for what’s around the corner and use it to his advantage and actually achieve his dreams. So watch out world, because the Proudest Member of the Fighting Texas Aggie Class of 2010 is about to begin a new adventure.
I don’t know if I’m actually “allowed” to do this, but screw it….
WHOOP!
Good luck kid!
Love,
Me
I apologize…
So I have been a little busy over the past few weeks and I apologize for the lack of posts. Please read the following to reacquaint yourself:
BRRRIIIINNNGGG....
The bell rang and I jumped out of my tiny plastic chair. I looked around to find that everyone had gone to recess. My friend Emily is shaking my arm, trying to gently wake me up before the new teacher noticed that I was sleeping. After looking around the empty room, I look down to remember that I’m wearing some dress with a belt that my mom always makes me wear for school pictures. As I’m walking out to the play ground with Emily, my shoes that didn’t feel right, caught some crack in the cement and I fell face first in front of Josh, my crush. I can feel the heat start to spread from my neck all the way up to my ears. Hot tears of embarrassment begin to well up in my eyes. I take a deep breath and slowly sit up. I wipe the tears from my eyes to find that my room is dark, it’s 3:45 in the morning, I am in a cold sweat, and I’ve only been asleep for a couple hours. I calm myself down by chanting out loud, “I am an adult, I am 24 years old, and I don’t even have to go to school again.” I get up, get a glass of water, lie back down, and think of something else to dream about.
I don’t know what it is about the first day of school. I have always been uneasy and nervous. From as early as I could remember, the night before school starting was my most exciting/restless/sleepless night in the year. And when I hit high school and even into college when everything was broken up into semesters, it then turned two nights out of my year that I couldn’t sleep. It was worse than the night before Christmas or night before some big test. I would get an upset stomach the night before or the day of, so I won’t want to go. I was nervous to see who my teacher was, if they would like me, who would be in my class, if I could sit next to my friends…you know everything that a kid would worry about on the first day, but for some strange reason it was intensified. But what worries me now is that I’m still having those dreams, those nerves and I’M OUT OF SCHOOL!!! So to all you psychoanalysis…what does this mean??? :) But to all of you who went back to school today, yesterday, or tomorrow…I wish you luck and I’m feeling your pain!!!
Good luck on the new school year!!
Love you,
Me
Dear Amanda Sue and for anyone else that is interested...
I would like to you meet my new pet. He is a fish. His name is Bruce.

I got him for my birthday from my Adam’s family. My nephew named him, after the shark from Finding Nemo. I like him. I believe that he is cute, a little odd, but cute.
One step closer to having my own personal zoo,
Melinda
Play Ball!!!
I have been to 2 Astros’ games in a span of 96 hours. The first game was Friday night. It was a great game, with great seats, with a good friend, and they won. Which is always a plus. That night I was home by 10:30, which is no big deal. The second game was 18 inning long, okay seats, with good friends, and they LOST. Oh, and I didn’t get home until at 1 A.M. and it was a work night. But it was still fun. It’s odd, when I was “in the middle” of the game on Friday night, I wasn’t too vocal. I was loud, but not like last night…last night, I clapped, sang, whistled, and I did anything and everything to get involved. It was fun. I just wish that we weren’t 6 games behind for the Wild Card…I know, I know, it’s sad that I’m this involved with the game, but whatever!!

GO ‘STROS
Forever a fan,

Me & Mikey
So last week was my week with my nephew. I went up to Nac the weekend before last to crash a wedding reception and to see some friends and my sister’s family with my bestest friend
Dawn. Then when we left on Sunday, not only did we have less room from the shopping that we didn’t need to do, but we were down a back seat due to the fact that we had MICHEAL, my nephew.

He was too fun. We got to have a milk shake, share a few meals, and a couple too many desserts. We went swimming, we went to the gym, we went to Dawn’s and we went crazy!! It was fun. It made me think about why I want to have kids and how much fun it’s going to be! So thanks kiddo for bringing up the reminder on why I like to dream about my future, love Disney, and affirm that it’s okay to watch cartoons!!

Love you my East Texas Baby!!!
Bye Boober,
Your crazy Aunt Melinda
You are not going to believe this…
So yesterday, during one of my breaks from working, I hurriedly checked one of my email accounts to find the letter below in my junk mail. At first glance I thought that it was one of those emails asking for money or my credit card number and I was excited! I know a sick mind, but in different classes I had heard about these things, but as someone interested in fraud, I never received them. So when I completely read this, I was even more interested that because of my last name, someone wanted ME to defraud some foreign government.
Dear Robie, Kindly accept my apology for contacting you via this medium(internet).I hope you will not betray me for trusting you. I am Mr.Martin Ogbuka the personal account officer to Mr.Morie Robie, a foreigner who used to work with shell Development Company here in Nigeria, but on the 21st of April 2002,were involved in a motor accident along Shagamu road in Ogun State with his wife and their two Children, Unfortunately Mr.Morie and his family lost their lives. Since then I have made several enquiries to your embassy here in Lagos to locate any of Morie's extended relatives with the informations as contained in his official file Access Bank, This has also proved unsuccessful. After these several unsuccessful attempts, I decided to track his last name over the Internet, to see if i can locate any member of his family or a reliable person with the same last name to enable us claim this fund, hence I contacted you. I have contacted you to assist in repatriating the money and property left behind by Mr.Morie before they get confiscated, frozen or declared unserviceable by the bank where these huge deposits were lodged according to the banking policy here in Nigeria after four (4)years of unserviced or dormant account, and the four years is due this 2006. The deceased had an account valued at about US$5.5m. with Access bank nig.plc. The management has issued me a notice to provide the next of kin or have the account frozen within the next few months. Since I have been unsuccessful in locating the real relatives, I seek your consent to present you as the next of kin of the deceased since you have the same last name so that the proceeds of this account valued at $5.5m can be paid to you. And then you and me can share the money,(50% to me and 50% to you.) This deal is 100% risk free. And this I must do to make sure that this fund is not wasted or end up in the wrong hands. All I require is your honest co-operation to enable us see this deal through. I guarantee that this will be executed under a legitimate arrangement that will protect us from any breach of the law. PLEASE ON YOUR REPLY.DO SEND ME YOUR FULL NAMES,RESIDENTIAL ADDRESS,PRIVATE TEL NUMBERS WITH YOUR COUNTRY'S CODE,INCLUDING A SCANNED COPY OF YOUR INT'L PASSPORT OR DRIVERS LICENCE. For us to move forward. I hope to hear from you soon. Please do reply this mail if you are sincerely willing to be a partner to this business. Awaiting your urgent response. Mr.Martin Ogbuka
I’m not doing a thing, have you ever heard of identity theft??? And the fact that they are calling it a “business” makes me laugh or that they "trust" me. There are no business deals here whatsoever and they are blind contacting someone!! I am though, on one of those online listings groups, there are 2 other Robie’s that are my “friends”, so I may just ask them if they’ve received anything like this and make sure that they don’t do anything!! I can’t believe that there would someone dumb enough to do this…but you never know…would you?
