Mi trabajo

So this will be the beginning of the 4th week at work….the office life is different. I’m over with all of my fellow auditors on half of the suite and we are all super quiet geeks. For the majority of the time there are only 3 to 4 of us in the office on any given weekday, and we are all there on Saturday. Of the 10 audit staffers, I only know of only one semi-single guy. He’s nice, but he is kind-of dating this one girl that he complains about. Over on the tax side there are a few single guys…but really…tax people are just bigger dorks than us auditors! :) So no real prospects at work.

We are on the 11th floor of the Chase building, so our office is really nice. We are in the Post Oak area/Galleria area, so I could really enjoy living there. The people are really nice and forgiving for my incompetence. I have been out to 3 clients and I’m going to my 4th tomorrow morning. I am tired of the drive and I’m trying to find things to keep in interested in my job. How sad am I. I thought that I liked audit and forensic accounting, but right now I’m not.

I’m learning, and my teachers are not as helpful as they could be. Busy season is coming upon us and I fear that my already long days will become even longer. Auditing out in real life is nothing like classroom auditing. There needs to be a change in presentation. The majority of my learning curve relates to the software…but I understand the software now…it the rest of the stuff…you know the auditing work that I don’t understand. When I sit in my managers’ offices they talk and I listen like I should….but it feels like I’m back in my high school Spanish class…I can pick out certain words and then I have to go back and put the words together to completely grasp the full idea. For example, when looking at cash there are certain test that must be performed. This I understand, but then they start to go off on certain processes and procedures and my brain turns off. Plus there are certain words that I cannot use, one in particular is “correct”. I use “fairly”. Odd but it makes sense. I pray that it gets better and that I pick up on more as the weeks progress, but I’m tired. My Monday thru Saturday consists of audit, but SUNDAY is all God’s and mine…so that is work thus far. I’m sorry that I haven’t really posted more, but I leave the house at 6:30 and don’t get back until after 8, so I don’t really have time to blog…but hopefully as the weeks progress and I get into a better schedule of things, I can add it to the routine. I don’t post at work because I can’t be paid for posting…so for now we have Sunday postings and we can squeeze more in when I have a better feeling of my surroundings. So I hope that you have a great week and I will talk with you soon again.

Until then,
Melinda
